Change Of Use Application For Caldicot Town Team Unit

Caldicot Town Team have applied for a change of use variation on the old Store 21 unit in Caldicot Town Centre.

As part of the Planning Application process, Caldicot Town Team have applied to Monmouthshire County Council for a change of use on 43 Newport Road, Caldicot, NP26 4BG to include both D2 (Soft play and indoor skate park) D1, (community hub) and its existing A1 use.

The plans to vary the approved use, which can be viewed here https://planningonline.monmouthshire.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=S0PNQVKYJ6900 does not include any material alterations to the layout of the premises, not does it involve building new fixed structures on site, but allows Caldicot Town Team to carry out activities which would not otherwise be covered under existing A1 use.

As the application is progressing, to adhere to regulations, the soft play area is to be closed until the application has been decided. This also means that the planned opening of the Skate Ramp this month has also be put on hold. The retail side of the unit however is still open as normal, with independent retailers and traders operating from inside as normal, Advertised Markets and events will also continue to take place as planned.

Caldicot Town Team is hopeful that Monmouthshire County Council will approve of the proposed changes. With the approval, a greater level of flexibility will be brought to the town center, allowing for more diverse and vibrant spaces. This, in turn, will create opportunities for a wide range of activities, projects, and events to take place within the town centre. By unlocking these possibilities, it is hoped that these dynamic additions will contribute to the overall vibrancy and liveliness of Caldicot, making it an even more appealing destination for both locals and tourists.
